I have an old sky box giving me my free sat channels in the kitchen

    The TV also has saorview
A few channels have a fair bit of interference on them on the saorview

It's probably from the cabling all being so close as I have 3 lines from the dish as well as 1 from the aerial all coming to a point at the back of this tv
Also my router is directly underneath the TVs

If my aerial and sat cables went to a combo box 1st would this eleminate the interference

No way of knowing for sure without trying it out. To see if the satellite is interfering you could disconnect it and see if the saorview channels improve.

I'm no expert but it sounds to me that you need a mast head amp with a power supply to boost your sa or view signal.

A masthead amp won't remove interference, probably an aerial, cabling, connector issue. I'd also test with the router powered off.

What are the Saorview signal strength/quality readings via the TV's signal meter?

They are fine for the channels that work its rte1 and another 1 that are the problem and I thought I read somewhere that it's an interference issue

My mother has a combo box
I just don't want to cause any issue with hers if I bring it over to my place to try it
It's an alien mini combi I think

    Will test with Internet off

    Its your aerial setup.

There are two multiplexes (frequency blocks) for the Saorview Channels.
One may be weaker (or too strong!) than the other coming into your house as a result of your aerial setup.

Check the on board signal meter on your TV (it should be in the tuning menu). Whilst not entirely accurate, it will you an idea of what is going on. So check the channel that is dodgy and see what the meter says. If the Strength is high and the Quality fluctuating madly then you may have a masthead amp on your house already that is set to high. They can be adjusted with a screwdriver. If the signal quality and strength is very low then you may not have a masthead amplifier or your aerial could be pointing in the wrong direction.

    Its common.
