THIS IS A NON FIREARMS MOUNTABLE SYSTEM.Observation monocular only.

Non Lidil mass produced Chinese plastic junk

This is a genuine Russian late Cold war era bit of very functional nite vision, built for the export and civillian market.
Built like all Russian stuff with function and simplicity and robustness in mind[Think an AK47].Built with honest to god metal, this is a scope that has travelled the world with me on work, and still has years of life in it .

Glass and optics are unscratched and clear,no black dots or blooms in the tube,or lingerin tracer lights if you move it from a light source.[IOW it is NOT messed about]

    Bad points.
The body has purely cosmetic loss of paint, mostly on the infra red light which doubles as a carrying handle.Day time lens cap is included but has lost the cheap plastic push button lock onto the lens mechanism. Now works with a friction fit and a small bit of electricans tape.if you are really worried about the lens falling off,an eastic band works as a braces security to its loss.No deep scrapes, dings or otherwise signs of abuse.

Its fully tripod mountable or any device that has a screw attachment.
No weird Russian batteries required that are impossible to find for some scopes of it's era.Powered by a PP3 9volt and two AA batteries in the illuminator.

Its a Gen1[improved] active infra red scope.Which means it will work with whatever ambient nite light there is.As in it is never really utterly dark at nite[unless you hunt or observe in a mine shaft or a cellar at night] there will always be some light that the scope can pick up.If you add the infra red illuminator it gets obviously brighter and your range increases, about out to 50 meters .Were you to add a foxing lamp say with an IR cover, your range will be incredible. I have tried this and with an extra IR searchlight have had no trouble spotting out to 150 meters.

It also has a simple ,screw on/together camera attachment that allows you to take nite time photographs or video.Bear in mind this was used at the time of chemical film rolls and manual non motor driven cameras, and the Russians were able to produce exellent pictures with these. So on a modern camera they should be exceptional.

Simply remove the eye piece by unscrewing it from the rear housing, unscrew the lower plate of the adapter ,drop the eye piece thru the hole and screw back onto the NV body dcrew the NV adapter onto the plate now on the NV eyepiece andscrew the camera body onto the corrosponding thread on the opposite side of the adapter.Turn on the NV and focus the front of the NV as well as the eye piece thru the finger holes in the adapter until you see a clear picture in the lens aperture of the camera.

Simple push the rubber water proof button and focus the front lens and eyepiece and switch on the infra red illuminator with its simple rubber coverd on/off switch if needed.
Impossible to exhaust or burn out the unit.It simply will not keep running once the tube is charged, you hear a high pitched humm ,like a camers strobe flash recharging to tell to release the button. The scope slowly darkens over appx 3to4 mins and can be bosted bck up ny pressing the button again.

    Sale comprises of
Night vision cyclops scope, demountable and focusable IR illuminator,Carry bag,,carry sling,[on that point, this was its only weakness,it was provided with two ridicilously flimsy wire split rings to secure the carrying strap to.I never bothered with the carrying strap as the case was better protection .] Day time lens protection cover and camera/camcorder adapter.

Pics will be up once the boards is working again.

    Price 180 Euros OBO
    Thanks for looking.:)

What distance can a fox be spotted in complete darkness.

Unless you are hunting foxes down a coal mine. There is no such thing as complete darkness in nature.:).There is always some sort of ambient light in nature,EG star light, moon light, So it will pick out fox size * without switching on the IR illuminator to appx 40/50 meters. With the IR switched on proably 80 meters. If you have a foxing lamp with an IR cover it will see out to 150 meters +/-. This is Active infra red,so the stronger the IR light source working with the scope the better it performs.Passive IR which takes ambient night lite and magnifies it by thousands before projecting it on the tube in thais size still cost in the lower thousand euros. If it can be got.

    * I might say on this it has NEVER been used out hunting. This has been used as an urban/rural nite vision security device,so it has spent its working life mostly in vechicles or buildings and hasn't been exposed to the elements. For foxes read dogs of that same size.
