Interview with Ericssons

Hi folks,

I have an up-coming interview in Ericssons Athlone, and I was wondering if someone who works there could answer a simple question for me which could possibly come up in the interview.

The question is "Can you describe what exactly Ericssons Athlone do."

I realise that's probably a fully loaded question but if someone would be kind enough to explain the day to day activities or overall purpose of the R&D facility I'd really appreciate it.

I used to work there: Ericsson worldwide make telecoms systems, for example Mobile phone network infrastructure such as basestations and switches.

In Athlone they build the systems that operators like 3 or Vodafone use to manage those telecoms systems.

Day-to-day, that means the people there write Java code to handle operation and maintenance of telecoms networks.

Have a look at "Ericsson Network Manager". It's the biggest project that they're working on at the moment.
