Switching dole due to moving in with mother

After discussing it with my Mum, we decided that I should move home for a while because the area I am currently living in has very little employment opportunities and I need to save up to move somewhere else, which is impossible currently as I pay all rent/bills from my dole (denied rent and fuel allowance due to ridiculous rules).

How do I go about switching my dole over to where my mother is living which is the next county over? I'm guessing they will look for proof of address but I don't have any bills in my name at her address and getting a bank statement would probably take a while. I'd like to get this sorted quick as I have some bills due soon from the house I'm moving out of and don't want to leave my ex-housemate stuck for my half.

I claimed at her address for 6 months back in 2006 so maybe they will look at that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (30 years old btw).

The DSP should accept a note signed by the householder (in this case your mother) that you're now living at her address.

Agree, #2 is right. Ask your mother to write a note to say that you are living with her. That will be fine with the social welfare people.

As long as she owns the house, if she's renting or if its a council house you will need a letter from the landlord/council

All the OP needs is an up to date utility bill in mothers name and a letter from mother stating OP is living there.

Not true! If she doesn't own the house, OP will need a letter from the owner of the house. I went through this only a few weeks ago, had to get my name put on my mothers lease, Social Welfare wouldn't accept anything else.

That is very unusual. Normally what would be accepted is an up to date utility bill is parents name and a letter from parent stating that you are living there.

Don't know your exact situation but had this with a neighbour recently.
His Father is a pensioner and he had to do a new means test with his fathers details and I think his father lost his electric benefit because of the move.
Just know of the case but I m not sure of the final outcome.

Dad would lose the Living Alone allowance for sure. If dad is under 70 it would have a knock-on on the Household Benefits package (ie. the contribution towards gas / electricity).
Good news side of that is when the elder apple reaches 70 it doesn't matter regarding means.
And thats just my experience...I stand to be corrected.
