Rung the bleeding bolt on boiler

    Hi guys wondering would anyone be able to help me here I rang the bleeding screw on a firebird boiler got it out but its shot completely and your man in pluming store said probably have to replace whole punp 80 euro are they hard to replace

    No not there at moment its a indoor firebird-s 50/90

    If the thread of the pump port is rung, then yes a new pump will be required.

    they can be repaired using a helicoil

    unless you know somebody with the kit and the knowhow to use then its as tony says new pump

    Thanks lads for reply for anyone interested or have same problem turned out a simple job one nut holding in burner unit to fire box it came away disconnected elecric cable just 4 wires disconnected oil hose and changed the pump 3 small alen key screws and out it poped done in 15 minutes plumbers seem to be mad busy again good sighn of the country

    The new pump should be set up to suit your boiler to get any sort of efficiency.low efficiency will cost alot more on oil to run burner.It is done with a pressure gauge and flue gas analyser.If the pressure on the pump is set incorrect,you can damage the baffles or cause sooting and co.

    Thanks for that advice agusta its due a service and I will say to him than its a great boiler never gave a bit of trouble only for my stupidity leaving run out of oil and having to bleed it

    If your are getting it serviced.Get a service technician who uses a flue gas analyser.This will ensure your getting the maximum efficiency from your boiler.
