I have an old Mistubishi M50 VHS video recorder which was working up to very recently but now doesn't work. It will accept a tape but will not play, FF or REW. A whining sound comes out of the machine as though it is trying to play but some sort of brake is being applied to the tape. Can it be repaired? Any suggestions please

Possibly look on Donedeal for repairers. At this stage it might be worth transferring whatever VHS tapes you have to DVD or other digital means rather than repairing the player.

Don't know if you're in Dublin or not but there's a shop on Monastary road Clondalkin that repairs tv/dvd/vhs players
