And before anyone says whats the revelence to hunting....Quite ALOT.Wolves are the second apex predator next to man and have a natural range of hundereds of kilometers not tens of kilometers. Is this going to be the antis new cry about deer hunting by man being unnecessary as now nature will sort it out in its own way?

Anyone wants to see how well things like this works google wolf re introduction in Yellowstone park livestock depredation,a park of literally thousands plus square miles, about the size of Munster and Connaught together.Despite the wolf being a smart and noble predator, they arent too good on reading signs telling them where their domain in a national park ends and the farmers cattle and sheep holding begins.

If there was such a ballyhoo about introducing eagles back into Ireland, whats it going to be like introducing an apex predator that will range and must range once its pack gets above a certain number, literally hundreds of miles? Just to give an example.Wolves that have been tagged in Poland have been found in Spain! So even mountain ranges like the Alps and French Dolomites are nothing to them.
    Good thing?Bad thing? Discuss!

PS I hope this isnt some sort of piss take, but a Norewigen professor called Canis Lupus?? Professor Wolf???

PS - in theory if there was a real discussion on this it would never happen. Not a hope of IMO.

Canis Lupus is latin for grey wolfe.
    And not a norwegian name

I'm all for the implementation of wolves into Ireland, I love those creatures. They are very close to their own pack, and they keep a fair distance from humans, they will see you before you see them and they will move away. I'd love to see these amazing creatures brought into Ireland's vastness of wilderness. A great idea in my opinion.
More than 200 years since the last Irish wolf was shot in Co. Carlow, wolves are set to make a return to Ireland. Plans are at an advanced stage to re-introduce these magnificent creatures into Ireland. The first pack of two males and five females will be released into Killarney National Park, as part of a controlled release programme that will run for 5 years and involve the translocation of 30 animals to Ireland. The project is spearheaded by the Irish Grey Wolf Re-introduction Group and NPWS, and has the support of the IFA, Failte Ireland and Kerry County Council. - See more at: http://wildirelandtour.ie/wolves/#sthash.cnFaP1gP.dpuf

Wolves won't come near your wild-stock especially with electric fencing, but they do keep a wide distance from humans, I don't think there is anything to fear from these amazing animals. I'd love to see these magnificent creatures here in Ireland.

Wasn't there an April fools version of this released last year. Practically the same content.
