Insurance After Theft Claim

    Howdy,

After 10 years of driving with no claims my car was robbed off the driveway during the week and will likely result in a claim greater than 10k. I know some insurers don't penalise your NCB if you have made a theft claim, but my insurer (No Nonsense) do remove your bonus.

My question is that if I go to other insurers who don't remove NCB for theft claims when my policy is up, will they recognise my claim free driving in any way, or am I back to paying thousands for insurance for 3 years regardless of who I go to?

I doubt they will give you the benefits that come with having their policy when you werent a customer. If companies did things like that there'd be no point paying more to go with them if you can just take the cheaper option then move across when you need to.

Yea makes sense...I suppose in a roundabout way I'm asking is a theft claim as bad as an accident claim when it comes to loadings?

Was it robbed from the driveway or taken with the keys from the house? Would it be possible to link the motor claim instead to the home insurance if key was taken from house?

Yea they broke in and took the keys. That type of claim is always settled by the motor insurance to the best of my knowledge.

You cannot claim under your house insurance for anything motor related
