Finishing cull freisans

I have an opportunity to pick up a dozen cull freisians around the 600kgs mark for €780 apiece. They have been dried off since late November and are inside on good quality silage and are putting on condition. I was going to buy them, continue them inside on good quality silage and build them up onto 5kgs meal for 2 months for an April finish. Any thoughts on this?

any chance you could give them 6 weeks grass & sell about 20th May ?

no meal until turn out & barley or cheap finisher ration on grass

just a thought for 2 reasons,

most likely get them into bigger weights

& cows usually peak about mid may

I was thinking the same. That's what I usually do with my cull suckler cows.

I be sending them to grass as well. Might even consider carrying them to mid/late July if they will carry the weight. Will only be small money out of them if you finish inside if any at all.

A proper waste of time this year imo
