I noticed that there is about a 5/7mm gap on the outside of my door when its closed between the door and the frame on the side of the door, where I can see the wood of the frame. Its quite sheltered area, but I am wondering would this be an issue in the future?

It doesn’t strike me as excessive – there needs to be a gap to; allow for movement of the timber, accommodate ironmongery & a ‘de-energising’ zone for wind-driven rain. If you are still concerned check with the manufacturer to see what their allowable tolerances are.
