    So what do ye think?

I think its gonna be over priced. Probably €399... That snapdragon 615 is not great. I have it on my spare phone a smart ultra 6 and find it laggy. Most phones with this chipset are not great in my opinion. Surely one plus 2 territory prices these gx8s will be going for.

It's interesting that its the GX8 they're releasing here, I thought the GX model was for the US market, as the G8 was launched in October supposedly for the European market.

Whats disappointing in this is the 2Gb of Ram as opposed to the 3Gb of the G8.

Otherwise, it seems to be a very good looking phone, and has a better screen than the G7 its replacing, although I've heard bad things about that processor as mentioned in the last post.

I think there's a version of this released in some Asian markets with a Snapdragon 616/7 SOC which is apparently an improvement.

Always thought the G7/8/XX were a better looking phone than the P8, although a little bulkier and heavier round the back.

You can the P8 for €379 in Vodafone. Saw it there in Liffey valley earlier. That's what id buy if it had to be one of the two.

I was interested in this one too. Looking for a cheap alternative to the other brand flagship phones.

Meteor just launched it today and it's €200 on the cheapest tariff (which is what I'm on) so I think I'll steer clear. I can do better than that for that kind of money.

It seems its only available on bill pay at the minute. Same spec as an ultra 6 so not exactly worth buying one on PAYG anyways.

I think at €99 it would be a viable option but @ €200 and a 2 year contract lock-in it's not a runner for me.

As you said the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 is a cheaper and more attractive proposition.

I could be wrong but I think Meteor may have over-estimated the interest in this phone. Decent specs but I don't think it will convince the Irish market to jump brand from their Samsungs and Apples.

Three are launching it end of Feb/beginning of March also.

U have the spec wrong.... its the 3gb ram/ 32gb version that is launching here..plus it has fingerprint so actually really good handset for the price.

Popped into a meteor shop today, spoke to one of the girls there, its €359 to buy.

Nice phone, I've the P8 and although this GX8 is supposed to be 27g heavier, it certainly didn't feel much heavier than mine.

Nice phone, I prefer the look of it to my P8, but I wouldn't pay €359 for it compared to the €400+P8.

I'll be waiting to see what the P9 looks like.

Got the phone from meteor. Not bad at all. Getting used to it but like what I see.

The ui reminds me more of iOS than it does of android but its okay. Got a free smart watch with it.

    On bill pay!

Thinking of buying this phone from three but they don't offer the dual sim option which is one of my reasons for interest in the phone as i'm going travelling next year. Does anyone know if there is a way of unlocking this feature as i think the sd card slot is used for the second sim.
Phone is €300 at moment which is at top end of budget. Can anyone offer a better alternative? 32gb storage plus 13mp camera and dual sim are main features that attract me to this phone
