Hi folks my brothers car is cranking over if I have my terminology right but won't start when I threw the reader on it it calls up P0016 cam shaft / correlation issue . There's only 130 K on the clock , I have a sensor to go in . Hopefully it's just that and a cheap fix ...

Should I be looking at anything else ?

The car should still start with a cam sensor fAult, will not with a crank sensor fault though and may throw up a cam code for a failed crank sensor. Easiest way to check functionality of crank sensor is to observe RPM signal on scantool when cranking as the sensor provides this signal to instrument cluster. The non start could be the result of jumped timing however and is common on engines with poor oil maintenance wherein the chain stretches due to lack of lubrication.

I changed the crank sensor also but no joy I thought there was a life coming into her but it looks like I'll have to do a bit of stripping to see if chain has jumped /stretched. I was hoping I wouldn't have to . Looks like I'm gonna learn a new skill now .... He only has it a year so I don't know about the history of servicing unfortunately
