Two schools, one a voluntary catholic secondary school can (and has ) filled an Assistant Principal's post in two months.A similar vacancy at an ETB school has taken the guts of TWO years..... ...and counting! Why is this, apart from the obvious saving of money. One wonders is it a look to the future in the sense that why bother filling the post when the job is getting done anyways!
The Union are absolutely useless and do not/have not bothered their backsides in assisting with finding out what the delay is.....................yet they take their subscription every fortnight. This is one corrupt country we live in.

on the contrary, quite a few have applied i'm told.It took a year to get to application stage eventhough the post was sanctioned at the start of the previous school year! (this prolonged delay has saved a lot of money though!) Interview stage will probably take another 6 months,3 have passed since candidates applied.

Maybe they're waiting for something... or someone!

I wouldn't say anyone here knows the answer.

The principal probably foresees the a mount of fighting, bad feeling, appeals and negativity between staff because everyone feels they should get it and simply kicking the can down the road.....

ETBs are moving to the new "Competency Based Interviews" so maybe that's part of the reason for the delay. But two years is still a joke. There's an appeal in that alone
