Trying to remember an old arcade game I played

Lates 80s early 90s, I'm thinking bomb jack and bubble bobble, but to end the level you had to find a hidden spot or object or something and shoot or hammer at it to complete the level. Earlier levels were easy and obvious, but as they progressed the end object was harder to find, any ideas? I remember completing It in the local arcade but can't think of the name...

    Any of these?

Sounds kinda like the New Zealand Story with the hidden exits.

The hammer makes me wonder if it's Hammerin' Harry, although I've no recollection of how levels ended.

Main character is a builder with an oversized mallet. early levels had him fighting his way through building construction settings if any of that sounds familiar.

I was thinking that as well but it is more of a platformer with scrolling screens. Op mentions bombjack and bubble bobble as similar and they have a single/static screen for each level.

Think Hammerin Harry has boss fights at the end of each level.

I think we need more info.

Is it a single screen like Bubble Bobble or bomb jack?

To complete anything in the arcade back then means you would remember more info?

It was a vertical scroller with platforms and i think bubbles that had to be burst and enemies that had to be dealt with. To finish a level you had to find the area on the screen and repeatedly hit or hammer it until the level ended.

This shows 500+ platform games, but if you scan through the screenshots for the late 80's early 90's platformers ... you might see something!

I cannot think of a vertical scrolling platform game though

Sounds very similar to PP Hammer, kind of an obscure but enjoyable enough platformer that was on 64 and Amiga. Never in arcade though so, not sure!?
