I've noticed Japanese imports seem to be popping up again
Just wondering does the double din stereo/reversing camera that seem to be fitted to a lot of them work here?

A hammer and a cold chisel would make them fit if they didn't.

Their FM radios from that side of the world won't work here.

Their radios will work if their is a little transponder attached .

Jap imports, I remember those..... They always came with really cool after market stereos... Which disappeared along route passing Scandinavia when cars were being moved onto the second ship to bring them here. Also I believe some of the clowns that worked on the docks here were accidently on purpose pinching them to.

Ye the signal is different in Japan as I had a few imports years ago and the tape decks or CD players functioned but not the FM part.

yeah, they will work with a frequency expander, which are universal and fairly cheap.

biggest hassle with more modern, touch screen Nav/ Reversing camera units and such is that they can have the text in Japanese which is a bit inconvenient. on older stuff with buttons this wasn't so much a problem.

The likes of reversing camera can be easily hooked up to a compatible stereo if you don't want to go down the band expander/Japanese text route.
Also the frequency displayed on the stereo won't match up with what it's actually tuned too.

Most of the import companies offer a parcel service that will send things like, gear knobs, turbo timers, vtec controllers(lol), radios, spare keys completely separate to the car so the thieving scumbags cant rob them.

So just replace with a double din/android unit from halfords or the like to cover the gapping hole?
