One I threw into the tracker after impressing in a PTP goes in the Punchestown Bumper, 10/1 with Boyles best left. Opened 14/1.

    Had a decent cut e/w.

    Punchestown 4.35

Your comment: This week's unmissable Irish p2p update, includes a horse who is "potentially special." Watch out.

I've been waiting patiently, oh so patiently for this one to be put into a suitable race. The time has come, but the race is a bloody tricky one to win. Chestnut Charlie is a stonking 100/1 to win the x country chase at Punchestown tomorrow. I am not surprised either, this one saw its only career victory at Auteuil 8 years ago and has nothing to show for itself since, despite putting in a few decent runs. There is clearly ability in this horse, but as I have stated before, time is clearly being called on this 14 year old, despite its lightly raced career. I was on this horse two years ago when it came to win its race over course and distance in a cross country, but slipped up badly when going best of anything else. Horse is two years older now, so there are obvious question marks as to whether it can still be competitive at this sort of level. However, as fellow participant Uncle Junior showed last year - it's not beyond the realms of possibility for these old-timers to win this kind of race. Trainer knows how to get his horses right for this type of race and has seen successful at monster prices, so I think it's definitely worth taking this one on at small money straight.

He won a couple of bumpers in Ireland as a four or five year old.

Hosed up in one of those bumpers iirc. Ran under a different name in a P2P and was banned for 3+ years. Shame as it was a good prospect.
