Hi all, just wondering does anyone know if a magic eye works with this boxes? I am sending signal to a second room using a triax trilink but the power is not getting to the magic eye.
I have had the same issue with a sky box but fixed thact through the services menu and turning on the rf out power.

    Any help would be great...thanks

Power comes from the rf2 leg of the tri-link unit which needs to be plugged in and this gives the voltage to the eye. If power is not on the eye it can be for a number of reasons such as

    1. Bad connection at cable ends
    2. Bad join somewhere
use of a wall point, wall points are problematic, check there isnt a green circuit board behind the wall plate if there is bypass it as this will strop the power getting to the eye.

Thanks for that Steve I bypassed the wall socket like you said and now the picture is a lot better but the power still isn't getting through. I have the triax running from the rf 9v out and it is going into a 4 way amp with bypass upstairs so there should be power getting through.
Would it be that I need to change a setting on the openbox?

If your 4way amp doesn't have its own psu thats the problem. 9v isnt enought ...an f140 for example will allow u to plug in an external psu. Prove it by joining the input directly to just.one room

The amp has its own psu alright, I'll remove ithe amp from the scenario tomorrow and see if power will go directly to one room like you say and see then. Will let you know, cheers!

Well I removed the amp but still no power to the eye. I wonder would the run of cable be too long for it. Don't think this should be a problem though

Yeah the picture is actually perfect now to all the other three rooms but just no power to the magic eyes. I tried a short cable from the trilink to the magic eye and there's no power so it's not the cable...must be a problem with the openbox itself or maybe the scary lead?
My head is fried from it!

Openbox has nothing to do with the eye. The eye is controled.from.the rf2 leg of the tri-link

I had a similar issue with my sky box though when using a trilink and when I went into the services setting on the sky box and changed the rf output to on it worked...doesn't appear to be a similar setting on the openbox though

I assure you the tri-link supply's the power it has absolutely nothing to do with the openbox I use the units constantly the whole idea is to be able to use them with boxes that dont have an rf function...if its not working then its a bad connection, damaged cable in between or a faulty tri-link....run a temporary cable from the tri- link directly to a magic eye and see if if powers up.

    Sorted!

From what I can tell the cable end was damaged, I paired it back and rejoined it.

    Thanks for your help
