Buying a car on finance while on Carer's Allowance.

I'm posting this on behalf of my Aunt and Uncle and I realise it is probably a stupid question, but if you can advise me I'd be very grateful.

My Aunt is a carer for my Uncle and receives Carer's Allowance, as well as being a co-dependant on his Invalidity Pension.
Weekly, their income combined is €450.

They were both thinking about buying a car and were genuinely wondering if they'd be able to avail of buying a new car on finance.
They don't know how these things work, as in do they need to be working?

They saw an offer at a local Citreon dealer where they'd take in their old car as scrappage and buying a new car would be €249 a month.
They can afford these monthly repayments.

So they're wondering if they'd be eligible to apply for a new car or would that not be possible?

Thanks in advance everyone and I know it's probably a "no" but I just thought I'd ask for them anyway as they've been asking me all week to find out for them.

It's a possibility. I've had oap's passed for finance on the back of their pension, but they really won't know until they apply for it.

They'd more than likely need to show capacity to repay the loan so would need a fairly healthy bank balance for the past three months and be willing to provide 3 months statements to the finance company.

Normally you can't secure finance based on social welfare income as it's not guaranteed income.
