    Hi Guys
Looking to make a possible purchase. Have a 2009 VW Passat estate and trading in for a newer car. Have a few options

    BMW 318d ES - Touring 2011
    Volvo V60 - 2012
    Opel Insignia Elite estate 2012

All 14k - 15.5k and i like the look of them all. Anything i should look out for or potential issues down the road?

    cheers in advance

All have a considerably smaller load area than the Passat Estate, so bear that in mind if you are looking for something of comparable size to the current car.

My dad has the BM. Couldn't fault it. Nice car to drive and still plenty of room in the back with the seats down. Very easy on the juice as well.

Thanks for the heads up - Its a known factor in the change as we no longer need the size of the passat load space but the estate variant is useful when needed

Beware of timing chain issues with the BMW. I'm not sure if this one has the N47 problematic engines....

If its the 2.0 litre diesel then yes it is a N47 engine.

Going from a b6 Passat to an insignia is a downgrade imo, even if it is 3 years newer.

I'd have the V60 out of that list.

And you base this on what exactly? ?
Have you drove a 12/13 insignia?

    OP
    I've drove the insignia
    2.0cdti 160bhp and very smooth
Lots of power, very comfortable and reliable
If you could get the sri version
    Jump on it
I was priced out of one last week and I'm looking for a 12/13 opel insignia
    Wir lieben autos
    Just my two cents worth

I'd agree with him. I drove a brand new insignia during the summer for a weekend and thought it was dirt. Cheap switchgear, numb handling and generally very little redeeming features. It wasn't a basic model either it had full leather and nav.

I'd take a passat any day of the week over one.

Go for the Volvo V60 much nicer looking than the other too and more exclusive too as they ain,t everywhere like the Opel and BMW.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Beware of the Insignia problems with tyre wear as little as 5000 miles front and rear also issues with gearbox and brakes. go with the BMW or Volvo.
