Taxi add-ons

Twice recently, a driver has charged me an extra €2 and I can't figure out why. Today, I had a suitcase with me but I'm almost certain taxis aren't allowed to charge for that anymore.

I also booked the taxi through Hailo. Could that be it? If so, I didn't realise there was a surcharge for that.

I'm newly back in Ireland and can't figure out if I'm pissed off for no reason or if I'm right to question it?

    Is that it?

Feck sake. I forgot what a ripoff Ireland can be.

Just ask them what the additional charges are. Maybe they're genuine or maybe you just sound "foreign" having been away for a while and they're chancing the arm.

I can't see it being a call-out charge unless you live in the arse end of nowhere as taxis pretty much by definition are on constant call-out.

Some taxis will put an additional "one" passenger on the metre when you get in even though I think they are only supposed to do that with two people in the car. Didn't know they did call out charges

    They say
    Booking fee:
Additional €2 booking fee applies if you pre-book the taxi.

I'm sure it was the 2 euro call-out charge. I always walk out and hail one if I'm somewhere I know they're likely to pass by.

Yeah I'd normally do the same but I had a suitcase with me. Guess that's why I didn't know.

There's no booking fee with hailo, if two people in car it's one euro 3 people two euro etc..

    According to Hailo themselves
, whilst all drivers are within their rights to add a 2 Euro booking fee to the meter, we suggest that it is in drivers' broader interest not to add that fee.

So drivers can charge the €2 fee with Hailo.

I never do anyway, it's goes against the whole point of hailo.
