    Have a Superstar components Elite 24 whose front bearing is a bit rough and wanted to see how much its spinning could be affected. So put 2 bikes upside down beside each other and did spin tests with various wheels. Basically would start 2 wheels spinning at the same time and time them in seconds until they came to a complete stop. Would then switch them around bikes and repeat just in case one arm was unknowingly and consistently spinning harder than the other. Times below in seconds.

    Front Shimano R501 17 27
    Front Zonda 94 199

    Front Superstar Elite 24 Ultra 40 32
    Front Zonda 191 124

    Front PlanetX 60mm 330 410
    Front Zonda 153 120

    Weight of the wheels including tyres, skewers etc to nearest 100g are:

    Zonda=1.0kg, Elite=1.0kg, Planet X=1.1 kg, R501=1.5kg

    Have no idea how important a free spinning wheel is when it comes to burning watts though, anybody got any ideas ?

    What makes a good wheel from a performance perspective ?

    Weight is obviously important, then to lesser extents aerodynamics, spinning I presume, but have no idea what the makeup of these factors is
