This has failed in my front door.
Anyone know where I might buy a replacement locally to Swords, in Dublin?
Even a bit further afield is fine, but would like to get it sorted today!

If possible, bring the faulty unit with you, unless you're absolutely sure of what you need.

    Damn.
Took the door handle off, on the inside, and no cassette to be seen.
The spring must be inside the door itself.
Which means taking the whole blasted mechanism apart!
How much will it set me back to get it done by a pro?

    Fear of the unknown...
Social upheaval I can cope with.
Springloaded mechanisms that have a habit of unravelling in front of me I have less competence in :(

It's not a difficult task to remove, inspect, (potentially repair yourself although they are normally shagged in some point around the gearbox ), or replace.

Here's a simple vid to show what's involved. Again, bring it with you to ensure a suitable replacement.

    I have an idea.....
I have a similar door at the rear of the house, and one that's not used anymore for anything, for a ton of reasons no one cares about.
I reckon, with the new skillz (z is deliberate, more down with the kidz) learned from the video, I know everything and can swap over the lock from one into the front door.
This may, in turn, earn brownie points with wife.
Brownie points must be spent quickly, within the hour, or they are forgotten and spouse will have moved on to thinking about some other aspect of home maintenance I have failed to.... maintain.....
I'll update with success/disaster report when job is complete.

Claiming the points within the hour is good practice. Sure it'll only take you a few minutes 😂

No, I've never successfully reclaimed Brownie points so far, I don't expect this to be any different!
