Recommended Satelite broadband in Cork county

I'm trying to find out what peoples recommendations are for satelite broadband. My sister lives out in the countryside (up the hill form Myrtleville Beach if you know Cork https://goo.gl/maps/2QgMDJcwv9J2). Apparently the lines in their area can only do up to 2mb and are probably less than that. So satelite seems to be the only option. I'm currently living the US so i'm out of touch with what deals and company are available. After a quick look i saw onwave but they seem to be expensive enough providing 22mb down / 6mb up with a 10 Gb cap for 39.95 or 59.95 for 25GB cap. You also seem to get stuck in a 24 month contract and pay a hefty 229 setup and installation fee. That seems rather steep. their main usage would be basic internet browsing and the streaming youtube and netflix which would probably eat up both of those caps fairly quickly! Any help or recommendations appreciated

Nova and Solar cover the vicinity, and Ripple have a small channel of availability but if she's not on the crest of the hill she wont get line of site to anything.

If none of the FWA providers there can cover her go with Three, €20/mo, 4G, no contract and unlimited data.

Stay clear of Satellite. It's not much better than dial-up and a lot less reliable.

What ED_E posted will show you Wireless ISPs, which should be better (I use one and am reasonably happy with the service, though it is too slow for modern needs).

Mobile midband would be the only other solution, though signal/speed reliability would be very variable.

Had Satellite broadband a few years back. The company that supplied it went out of business in the end. Have to say it was a terrible service. My download was via satellite and my upload was via phone line. So upload speeds were same as dial up and download speed was at best 2mbs with a usage cap and contention issues all the time.

Would never go back to it as it was the most frustrating experience ever.

Set up costs that you have quoted seem fairly standard for this service as they have to send out an engineer, install a dish, modem wiring etc..
