Just wondering what kind of a timescale it takes to get a farm transferred father to son if anyone on here has done it recently. I mean herd no, stock, entitlement's etc rather than the actual land itself.

Just did it last week. Farm advisor did it all. First the herd number needs to be transferred. That takes a 5-6 weeks. The dvo might come out to inspect the place. Then when the herd number is in your name you transfer stock and entitlements. Thats when you apply for payments. Your dad has to sign over the entitlements. Not sure how long that takes in total.

Cheers, know what has to be done alright. Just kinda wanted to know the timescale to apply for young farmer scheme.

5-6 weeks for herd number. Then you can apply for payments and schemes I think.

Did you get an insepection jimini and if so what did it consist of? Just a look around the yard and crush or full eligibility, missing tags and remedies?

No inspection yet. Paperwork only in last week. Advisor told me dvo will just want to see crush, a roofed shed in case of ill animal and water supply. Hopefully he wont want to check out fencing cos that not in great shape.

It'll just be a look at facilities. you'll just need the crush shed for a sick animal and a fence round the place. They won't be looking for tags or remedies for a new herd number as you won't have any stock. I suppose it depends on the inspector but the guy I had walked outside the yard gate saw I had all the above and said aye that's grand.
if you're transferring an active number they might not even do that much inspecting.

I transferred an active herd number two years ago, herd number/herd keeper confirmation came in about 6 weeks. I wasn't inspected at all which surprised me.

It's an active herd no, not a new one.

    you'lll be fine

prob wont be an inspection as herd is already up and running

invest in agood agri tax advisor regarding the transfer so that they factor in everything from land - stock - machinery etc

your agri advisor should sort the entitlements transfer or you can do it yourself like i did search SPS/TE 2014
in the dept of agri website fill it out and get a solicitor or advisor to sign and stamp in your presence
