So i just renewed my policy

In the letter i got out from axa I didnt have anything else on my no claims bonus..i compared this to last years matter of fact and there was a ncb section

I rang axa and they were very unhelpful. I asked why it wasnt there compared to last year and asked why i have no proof that my ncb was used. I was told go to a branch to which i said no i wont as i dont have time And again asked why the matter of fact doesnt contain proof of ncb

So she just said she would escalate and get another sent out

Am i over estimating the importance of this..i dont see why this yrs and last yrs differ..i wanted proof besides there so say that my ncb was accounted for

Do you mean the statement of fact?

Did you renew with AXA or are you just after joining them?

What's on a statement of fact with relation to the bonus does not mean anything or make any difference.

You would have been issued a certificate of no claims bonus with your renewal notice, once that is in order then thats all that matters.

Prepare for a nice charge for the duplicate letter!

My thoughts exactly. If you look for a letter showing proof of NCB, they'll probably hit you with an "administration fee". Just another way to extract more money!

I think people are finally realising that Insurance companies aren't there to provide a service, they are there to make profits. They are a business. You only had to listen to Joe Duffy recently to hear all the horror stories of elderly people being literally robbed of their hard pressed payments. Rant over...............

I thought they had to supply to statement relating to NCB. I thought it was a requirement if you got a quote from another company? (meaning they would ask for it as proof)

Here - forward this link to them if you have any issues

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/motoring_1/motor_tax_and_insurance/motor_insurance.html

    Renewing your motor insurance
Under Non-Life Insurance (Provision of Information) (Renewal of Policy of Insurance) Regulations 2007 (SI No. 74/2007) your motor insurance company must issue your insurance renewal notice not less than 15 working days before the date of expiry of your insurance policy. It is also required to include with the notice your no claims discount certificate. You will need this certificate if you want to renew your motor insurance with a different insurance company.

Hahaha. That is one strange rant.

A statement of fact is the basis of the contract. A No Claims Bonus is a marketing tool, widely used by insurers, to discount premiums. It is of no legal effect. If policyholders continually ask for irrelevant documentation, it's no wonder they all now charge admin fees.

Insurance Industry Regulations stipulate that your current insurer provide you with your NCB cert prior to renewal (free of charge). Once they've done that they are entitled to charge you for additional copies

On the 5 pieces of paper there is zero mention of ncb

    What i have is:

    My receipt
    DDconfirmation letter
My disc and my insurance cert
    Your schedule
    Statement of fact

The NCB is stated in your renewal notification - the letter they send you a few weeks before your policy expires. It's there to allow you to shop around and show prospective insurers how many years NCB you have built up when seeking quotes.

It is not stated in the documentation that you get after you renew for the simple reason that it's irrelevant until your next renewal in 12 months time.

They usually send out the ncb cert before you renew. You won't receive it in your new policy documents if you have renewed. It's irrelevant at that stage!

OP, I just got my renewal from AXA as well and the No Claims cert is part of the second page that shows how your policy price is calculated. The bottom half displays your NCB and tears off to be used as a cert of no claims. It's labelled as "AXA Insurance Certificate of no-claims discount"

This is not a renewal notice, the OP has renewed and has received a statement of fact for the year going forward

Should be, but that doesn't seem to be enough for the OP

I want clarification of my ncb and that it was used

Even on the ncb scale page it doesnt actually state x years and x years driving experience..it just goes on about a windscreenclaim...years since lastclaim =0 and then it goes on about my ncb rating..nowhere does it state op has x yrs of ncb and x yrs of driving experience..thats what i had on the previous years

That is what i have (attached) ..no mention of x years or x experience..just the scale

But why do you need it? Your number of years ncb would have been disclosed on your renewal documentation. As long as your premium matches the figure quoted then it shouldn't matter.

Had you a windscreen claim since renewal 2015?

If so then you are zero years claims free.

A fire, theft or glass claim does not effect your bonus however it is still a claim and therefore has to advised.

You said it includes your NCB rating, that is your bonus.

    It usually reads

    1 year = 20%
    2 years = 30%

    And so forth.

So the point on the scale would equal having a full bonus.

If you had a claim in the last 12 months they will not issue you a letter saying you are 5 years claims free because you aren't.

    You had...?

It would appear from the image you posted that for having a claim to the value of 222.50, you have been knocked back to #1 on the scale with a 55% discount.
