Hi, I have a Sony home theatre system (ht-sf1000). Currently not in use but wondering can I hook it straight up to my tv without going through DVDs players etc. Is this a complicated job for a technophobe?
    Thanks in advance.

Sadly no , not in the way you think.
The DVD part of your ht-sf1000 is also the amplifier which the speakers need to receive power from. Its probably best to use it as is because just buying an amplifier to power them will lead to a lot of technical issues

Thanks. Just to be clear, and sorry for ignorance, I can't use the sound system to improve the sound on my Tele
    Thanks again

Yes you can but you need to use the DVD part . On the back right of the DVD part there is two small black squares (SA-CD/CD & Opt in/Video 2), these are optical inputs which connect to the optical out on the back of your LCD/Plasma

Using this will give your 1000 5.1 information from the TV set so any Blue-ray/Games Console/Sat box connected to the TV can be "heard"
