Windows 10 - Start Button problem...?

Just today, if I left click on the Start button, nothing happens. The window with the Apps and the option to select Turn Off, does not appear.

If I right click on the start button, a Shut Down or Sign Out option does appear.

Similarly, if I left click on the volume button, nothing happens. But, if I right click on it, the option to Open Volume Mixer appears.

    What's gone wrong?

    Thanks.

    D.

Ps. Pressing the Windows button has no effect either.

    I have seen this before.
Try turning off windows firewall and then turning it back on.

Right click on the start and go down to Command prompt admin and run it then in the box type in sfc /scanow and enter and see what it comes back with. If it comes back with a problem restart the PC.

Did the sfc /scannow sort it?

A friend of mine is having this problem, I tried sfc scan but it didnt fix the problem. I was told it was a known bug on Windows 10 if you upgraded from 8 or 7. Not sure what else to try so we could fix it. I already tried changing values on registry as google suggested, no luck.

Run the sfc /scannow as admin, then reboot, then download the sfc.exe (link below) and that might do the trick.
