    Need someone to clarify.

I have 50% no claims discount on my current policy but on my no claims certificate it says im 2 years claims free driving.(due to windscreen chip which I got fixed). Now if im shopping around, many insurers will ask how many years no claims bonus you have. Where do in stand?. Have I 2 or 5?

Happened me before. You have 5 years yes,but it is 2 years since no claim of any form was made. Some insurers ask you that also. They day they won't load the premium but it is ireland. axa done it to me.

It makes you wonder if it is worthwhile claiming for a windscreen when you are going to have to pay it back to them the next year

I have a small chip on my windscreen at the moment. I'm debating paying for it myself as insurers will take the NCB for ANY CLAIM OF ANY KIND before long. It's complete madness in the market at the moment

You're worried about what might happen in the future. If it is in your current contract that your premium won't be affected, you will have your bonus at renewal

I read somewhere lately that some insurance companys wont quote you if you have claimed for two windscreens in the last 5 years.

Though on a personal level , i claimed for a windscreen a few years back off setanta. Premium increased by 60percent afterwards. Went to another insurer. Later that year setanta went to the wall, so i was lucky there

At the moment i will. But the insurers could change how they operate. 15 year old cars not being insurable with some is only the beginning

Just because of the windscreen claim? No other damage to the car?

Well if the benefit is there now, without consequences, I'd avail of it

No other damage. It was the year they went bust, id say they put prices up trying to stay afloat.
