Its mighty craic altogether, the snapchat's to your friends of you on a big tractor while they are stuck in Supervalu is priceless. The silly season wont be kicking off for another while so you can get some pratice in by doing some dumper work. Be prepared to work up to 72 hours minimum off and on, remember season is short and if you get any decent tractor it will have super bright led's that will allow night work.

only advise I would say is don't go hell for leather from the start, plenty of lad coping trailers going to hard into corners, also watch out for electric overhead cables etc.

if u have to ask that question you need to do more research. talk to guys on theground. suggests to me you lack some experiecnce despite doing dumper work!!!!
best of luck and at least you are thinking about work . fair play .

Fair play to the OP for looking for the work...and I'm not saying this against him/her, but..

Isnt it a bit wrong/crazy that any 17 year old (even on a Learner Permit!) can drive a fast tractor - with a 22ft trailer on tow - without any formal/basic training?!

Age doesn't necessarily mean sense,a 17 year old can jump into a car aswell could cause worse damage than a 40k tractor and trailer.

I dont disagree. However, having passed my C+E (Artic) test last year, I know the challenges of driving a large vehicle c/w trailer (and the potential for things to go wrong).

To me (and many many others) it just doesnt make sense to let a 17 (or 16!) year old away in a tractor towing a large trailer (potentially a tractor c/w lowloader and digger onboard) with little or no experience.

If even only a half day of class and static instruction were a requirement before getting a 'Work Vehicle' permit, that would be a great start.
