    Hi,
I'm looking for advice from anyone working in office administration/secretarial work. I have been working as a care assistant for over 7 years now, However im becoming a bit sick of it. Yes it's rewarding, but the work is tough, it's all 12 hour shifts and the place I work in is very busy. I would love to try my hand at office work, but at 27 is this too old to enter the world of office work? Would I be able to find a job with no experience? I am planning to do a fetac level 5 in an admin course maybe in September in the hope of obtaining the right skills and increase my chances of getting employment. I would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer me on this.
    Thanks!

Not at all too old OP - you could learn to touch type between now & September (if you can't already) here's a link to a free site http://www.typingstudy.com/

    Best of luck

I hope 27 is not too old or I'm screwed ;)

Was a carer for 19 years, then went back to college as an exceedingly mature student last year to do a QQI Level 5 Business Course. Passed all with distinctions, and now doing QQI Level 6 Business with advanced IT.

Loving it, especially the admin and bookkeeping side.

Have done work experience in 2 different offices and had nothing but positive experiences.

    Go for it :)

I went back to college at 37 and I'm probably below the mean age of my class!!
