    Hi Guys,

Have a Superstar Elite 24 front wheels which is running very rough and was looking to service it. Got the caps of the hubs and what I have now can be seen in attached photo.

Question is where do I go from here, how do I get the bearings out ?

Not familiar with the wheels, but given the ongoing issues with attachments since the DDoS, you might have more luck uploading the image to an external service and embedding/linking from there, as I think most attachments (your picture included) are probably inaccessible to most users.

The Superstar hubs are made by Novatec. The maintenance manuals including those for bearing replacement are on the Novatec site http://novatecusa.net/resources/

Saw they had special stock clearance offers at the moment and was thinking of ordering another set of elites. Bought a pair last September and only got to use them a few times (were fine) before putting them away for winter. Pulled them out for another look a couple of days ago and noticed the front wheel sounded rough. Pulled the rubber seals of the bearings and one side had almost no grease. Don't know whether it came like this or wet had seeped in while when they were stored away and somehow washed it out. I added grease in but it is still running rough so I am trying to figure out now how to replace bearings.

Bottom line is if I cannot get the front wheel running smoothly I won't be ordering another set.

If I can I'll take a chance on them due to the price/weight combination. It is very much a chance as current set has not been used in anger yet.

    From superstar:

"Hello, the front bearings can be gently drifted out. First push the centre tube to one side, you can then drift the bearing out from the opposite side. Once one side is out you can remove the centre tube and gently drift the remaining bearing out."

    Drift ?

Does he hold wheel with one hand, push center tube with the other and get somebody else to tap the bearing on the other side ?
