Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looks like all the decisions have been dictated by Capcom/Namco/Nintendo.

Despite the fact I rarely play it anymore it'll be sad to not see SFIV there (unless there's some big side tournament planned for the mad Catz channel like last year?). It's fairly hypocritical for Capcom to put pressure on them to drop it (if they have) considering their general apathy towards the tournament scene for years prior to IV when multiple Street Fighter games were top billed together without any issues.

To me, as a Street Fighter player, Evo is becoming less and less relevant anyway with Capcom Cup being a more prestigious (and lucrative) event. Capcom Cup will definitely be SFV only too which is another reason Evo should have maybe stuck with SF4 a little while longer.

This is pretty much the death knell for Evo as a premiere community event imo. It's been going this way for years, but this is the biggest change yet in terms of turning it into the big FG corporate expo of the year.

Very frustrating to see, but as blag said there are other events. Sad to see it go this way though.

This really does feel like a case of commercial interests trumping the will of the community, either those of the Evo organizers or Capcoms, which I suppose is true for most things nowadays.

USF4 isn't dead but it isn't being allowed die out at its own pace, its actively being killed. A sure fire way of killing interest in it, is dropping it from tournaments. Understandably from Capcom's point of view as they are a business with a new product they want to sell and they are free to run their own tournaments whatever way they please, but only in this months Edge magazine big preview of SF V its mentioned that for years Capcom stayed away from the competitive scene for fearing of ruining it due to "red tape, legal restrictions, companies trying to make a profit". If they did push for this at Evo, they may end up creating a self fulfilling prophecy.

The explaination from M.Wizard is somewhat galling as well.[URL="http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/jan/27/mr-wizard-explains-why-ultra-street-fighter-4-isnt-evo-2016-

Basically its the overlap of players between IV and V and according to him "It's time to let it go and time to move on to the bigger and better games."

How does he know what overlap there will be between IV and V?. How does he know its bigger and better. The game isn't even out, it could be great or it could be complete muck. Its certainly not bigger in terms of content. I doubt Melee players would like being told its time to let go and move on. They would probably be stuck playing Brawl right at the moment if that was the case.

Not criticizing the other games, its been pointed out the overlap between the 1,926 entrants for Smash 4 and the 1,869 entrants for Melee had was only 517 players. They deserve to be there.

Even if there is a huge overlap between IV and V, that shouldn't matter, these events should be run for the benefit of the players and not the organizers.

Game choice aside, please tell me I'm not the only one who is a little weary of the fact they're having the finals day in a stadium and you can't sit anywhere you want there either to boot.

Cant imagine why they've gotten rid of it.
