    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if you would please have any recommendations/suggestions on what to purchase on a €10,000 budget? That's the maximum I'd be looking to spend so if there's something cheaper that you'd suggest - great! :D

Main things I would be looking for are:

    - Something traditionally very reliable
    - Small (ish)
    - Cheap to run
    - I know I'm extremely limited on this in my price range, but good technology features would be a huge plus for me too.

The main car that has stood out to me in my uneducated opinion so far is the Ford Fiesta.

    Thanks all. :)

Ford Fiesta would be a decent call, or a Focus.
Easily looked after, reliable, cheapish parts in plentiful supply.
Ford cars are very good imho, having owned a few over the years.

Also maybe consider the likes of Toyota or Honda too. Always a good bet for reliability although they might be more expensive to buy that the likes of a Ford and maybe more expensive to service or buy parts for. But not dramatically so.

You don't mention what sort of mileage or driving you'll be doing, so not sure whether to recommend a diesel or petrol. If doing small miles maybe consider a petrol, and since Ireland loves diesels you might get a good deal on a petrol if you are a cash buyer.

I have a mk3 Megane (2009 upwards model) and it fairly much ticks all your boxes. For 10k you would get a 10 or 11 Reg one out of a Renault garage with a warranty.

Aim for dynamique spec or higher as that will have speed limiter, fog lights, alloys, a/c, cruise control, radio controls from behind the steering, Bluetooth radio for wireless music streaming and handsfree calls, aux in for iPod, trip computer and a centre arm rest. They represent great family for money at the moment and are easily as reliable as a focus, golf etc. The 1.5 dci Diesel engine is reasonably economical though although if you are only doing very low annual mileage then a petrol would suit better.
