What tube size for 700 28C tyre?

Will an 18-25c tube be ok or will it be too stretched?

I couldn't find anything else in the shop.

Just another quick question. In pumping the presta type tube I find I have difficulty getting the air in. I loosen the valve a little but the pump just pressures up. I have to twiggle it a few times before the actual air pressure comes up.

Am I loosening the valve too little/much?

    Thanks

Loosen the valve all the way until it can't go any further. Tyre should pump up all the way.

Will the valve not just pop out then with the air pressure or is there a mechanism to hold it in place.

I also find I have to wiggle the pump taking it off which I am afraid may break off the valve at some stage.

Will be just fine. I use 18-25 tubes in 31mm tyres sometimes.

No. It will hold in place. Press your finger against the open valve. That is the only way to deflate they tyres

The pump head should slide all the way in and then lock in place.

I get this regularly with some tubes. Sometimes it helps to let a little air out before attaching the pump head but I reckon it's down to the valve. I've a Maxis tube that's a ba$tard to pump - especially when topping up before a spin - no problem inflating it from flat. I usually have to let a lot of air out before I can get air in. Sometimes I can hear the valve 'click' just as it allows air in. Other times I just get back pressure in the pump. I reckon it's just sh1t valves.
