The mystery of the DART consists...

All right, maybe I'm trying to make too much sense here, but...what's up with the completely random and illogical way IE uses consists on the DART schedule?

I've now given up getting on the 8.16 and 8.32 (Clongriffin) trains as they are beyond packed - it is true that it is peak time but, most of the time, a train with only 4 cars shows up. Cue in 9.07, fewer people around and, you guessed it, the consist arriving in the station has 6 cars.

Same story in the evening - 4 cars for the busy 18.31 from Grand Canal, then 6 for the 18.59 one.

Last night, however, was the best of them all - I came out of the gym and got the 21.19 DART at Pearse. Barely anyone other than me waiting for it...and an 8-cars consist shows up...

Seriously, what's the issue there? Why aren't the longer trains used at extremely busy times, leaving the smaller ones for the hours where barely anyone uses the service?

    Its a number of things.
    1. byass toards howth meaning it gets more capacity.
    2. funding (which in fairness doesn't explain why an 8 car turns up outside peak)
    3. probably some sort of operational convenience on IE'S part.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

See my posts in the other forum, beyond crazy every night in second half of evening peak on DARTS towards Malahide.

Best advice is to change at Pearse and get a commuter that starts there that serves Clongriffin.
