Has anyone succesfully switched from Magnet Broadband to Sky Broadband? Ive been told that my line is on a Magnet exchange but Sky can only use an Eir line. Not sure what I need to do here. Any advice would be great.

    A. Probably:

    Sky being awkward as usual.

Most exchanges are all eir hardware, some are "LLU" and have multiple operators equipment (BT and eir usually) and transfers are a little more complex.

You'll have to move to Eir or Vodafone for one contract term first (12/18 months) to have the line migrated (expect downtime) then you can migrate to sky once the contract ends.

    B. Maybe:

The other setup is a magnet FTTB installation common for some apartments. If you have this, there is no moving. Magnet monopoly.

We are I something similar. Have magnet fibre to home or UPC. No eircoms e fibre. The Magnet is there own hard wired and exchange so you cannot get eir/sky.

I am going to switch back to Magnet has UPC has not being great lately. How do you find Magnet now.

To be honest, i cant fault magnet. Its reliable and I get speeds of 60Mbps on the 60 package but I was looking into getting sky broadband as I already have sky tv and could make a saving with a bundle.

I am the same here. Have sky tv. Would have been good to been able to get the BB from them. We do have an eircom line but its not fibre enabled. Have you an eircom line?

No, just the magnet line, thats the reason I cant switch to Sky.
