Mobile network broadband

My parents have recently moved to a new house. They have no phone line and no plans to get one. Fibre is not in the area yet although Eir say it's coming. The area seems to be a bit of a black spot for network coverage, not far from Tayto Park near Ashbourne, Co.Meath.

I was looking at maybe suggesting they sign up to Three's 60GB/month package and either get the Three wifi router or go SIM only / USB Dongle and get a decent wifi router. Or just use the Three supplied router and get a decent set of PowerLine adapters for the house. There might be a need for an antenna as 4G coverage is very patchy with 3G patchy enough inside the house too.

Has anyone got any experience with this or know of any workable solutions that won't break the bank? Three's 60GB would work out at €20/month for 1st 6 months, then €40/month for another yr.

My dad requires broadband for small bit of work related stuff + they'd watch Netflix and make use of RTE player etc.

    Cheers

Only provided available according to map is Ripcomm and seems to be very expensive for what they offer. I've also heard poor reviews of Ripcomm and Sat broadband/fixed wireless services with latency being a major issue. I think mobile broadband seems to be the best solution? Would like to know what the best setup/configuration options are?

    Thanks

    Dont confuse FWA with satellite.

    1. FWA - Dish pointed to a hill, can be very fast with a good provider
    2. Mobile - Very dependent on coverage and congestion
    3. Satellite - Dish towards the sky, massive latency, expensive.

If theres 4G coverage in the place that'll be best most likely, if not itll be a toss up between Ripple and 3G.

Cheers for that. Might test 4G signal first and then decide.
