These handmade picture frames are incredible for wedding pictures.

You can upload a photo to the frame website and they print the picture and then make a frame for it

You can buy a gift voucher for a wedding present.

I think any bride and groom would love this!

I was only thinking yesterday of unusual or nice gifts for a wedding I have upcoming.

I was looking on fb at a man who will compose and record a piece of music for the b&g - and give you a copy of the sheet music.

Those frames look lovely. And prob more practical than the music.

Any other unusual or nice gift ideas out there?

Someone gave us two cases of wine as a wedding present, different types of wine that we liked. It was lovely to drink it over the year after the wedding.

would you have a link or name and any idea of cost for this? Have a wedding coming up that this could be perfect for

Lol, this I would appreciate! Although I'm not sure 2 cases of wine would last the year in our house.

Secondly, I'm always cautious of buying tangible gifts for weddings especially since I know that personally I have very specific taste so I'd be hard to buy for.

We already live together and our decor is very modern and minimalist. For our housewarming we got an array of gifts, some of which we've had to be quite inventive on where to put them as they just look a bit odd in our house. I'm thinking particularly of a candle in a jar in a birdcage thing that someone gave us. I think its supposed to be a bit boho looking but it just looks strange with the rest of our things. Now I'm not a terrible person so I just about managed to find a place for it in our kitchen, but I think think its an odd item. That said, I doubt it cost more than €15/20 so once we keep it for a while, I don't think its a big issue.

People tend to spend a decent amount of money on wedding gifts and I would hate to have to do the above on a larger scale. Most people live together now anyway and have their places decorated to their taste. Buying a gift, especially decorative, can be a bit of a risk.

However I'd absolutely welcome restaurant/hotel vouchers or a case of wine like above if people don't feel right about cash :)

Something we did (which was a bit cheaper than that frame) was to buy a frame in advance of the wedding, take a really nice picture on the day itself & then given the picture in the frame to the bride & groom during the next week as part of their present. We wrapped the frame back up in the original packaging too so they didn't realise there was a photo of them in it till they opened it. We knew them well enough to pick a frame they'd like & have been told it's one of the best presents they received.

But I do agree that you have to be confident enough you know them well enough to pick something that they'd actually like in their house & not what you'd like.

I would have loved this, a great gift.

One of my favourite gifts was from our best man and his partner who live in London. They brought us to a Michelin starred restaurant. It was fabulous a really lovely experience.

Oh exactly, if they're one of your close friends and you know their taste, and can see in your minds eye where the frame would fit in their home then I'm sure it can be very thoughtful :)

I did something similar for good friends who were getting married. Bought them a case of really nice bottles of wine (I think there were 6 or 8, can't remember) and the shop put together this fabulous little instruction page with it, advising what bottles were to be drunk at what occasions e.g. a bottle of red and white were for their first Christmas day as a married couple, another for first NYE, another for first Valentines, first wedding anniversary, etc.

Just checked his fb and it's on private etc so don't think fair for me to post it, plus looks might just be doing it for friends and family at the moment (I know his son)

I've been looking at this over the weekend. I've two weddings coming up and I think one of the couples would love this as a gift. The personal craftwork goes into it looks incredible.

I'd be very careful buying vouchers for framing-the majority of wedding photographers do not give couples a full copy of the photos afterward. They're usually watermarked so that you have to buy from them and cannot get them done elsewhere. It'd be fine if you'd a friend that took the photo etc but prob wouldn't be able to use a professional photo.

Yes my assumption is you'd work with your photographer as normal and identify nice ones you'd want to buy/get them to print - and one of these you would send to the framer who would print and frame in the beautiful hand made wood.

Fair point but do photographers still do this?

I thought that most photographers offer couples the opportunity to buy a selection of their photos printed but can also give them the photos on a USB stick or disc......For an additional fee of course!

Depends on the photographer I think. When I got married we got 2 discs, one had the top quality photos that were for printing (340 or so pics) and we were free to get them printed wherever we wanted. We also got a disc of the same images at lower resolution for the likes of putting them on facebook or emailing. Those had a watermark in the bottom right corner, because they'd potentially be viewable online.

Definitely depends on the photographer. We got all of our photos on a usb as part of our package, which cost far less than a lot out there. Also got our album and a couple of prints. It was part of our contract that we have full ownership of the images; photographer maintained right to use in agreed publicity etc, but we have, and can Definitely do whatever we want, with the digital images. Watermarked lower resolution versions of the pics are also on website that we can give password to ppl and they could download if they wanted.
