I was thinking of mix some pig slurry with my cattle slurry.
I am told that it waters down the cattle slurry a lot and there less agitation required, has anyone every tired it what were the results

I do it every year, easier mixing and more free fertiliser. You see a savage response to it.

On a side note - piggeries are required to obtain maps for the land that they are exporting slurry too which could put you over the threshold for NPK.

Pig farmer s Only really look for maps when it gets scarce in summer months taking some off pig farmer s this time of year is a kinda favour to them with tanks relly filling up and they will have no bother supplying you with some later in the year

They have to account for all exports.
Personally I feel the 170 limit is tight

The pig farmers you know are going to get their holes opened. Large pig farm in this locality has a man employed solely to monitor epa and other environmental compliance.

I was talking to lad over it in the local pig farm , it's the exact same as the nitrates for cattle , they know how many pigs are there and what slurry is available , give or take a few loads , I had to sign for the stuff I got before I agitated last year , savage job thoug , tank was done in no time and lovely rich green grass after it

Thanks for that I was on to my teagasc rep this morning. Better to keep it all above board

Every load is accounted for it will show on nitrates statement as an import.

There is a significant difference in pig slurries, depending on the age (diet) of the pigs
At some stages they are on medicated feed (lincomycin, CTC) so beware not everything that comes in the tank is desirable.
Jesus it grows grass though. There is nothing like it for building P into soil.

    Don't agree.
What you want is the slurry from a breeding (sow) unit - that stuff is liquid gold.

All has to be accounted for. If you have capacity to take out slurry, get some now whilst the piggeries need to get rid. No good going looking for it after the first cut when local lads are drawing it away as quick as it lands in the tank.
The piggery owner will remember the lad that helped him out in the closed period.

I thought that there would be a lot more washing?

Was always told to get slurry from sows if possible, something to do with the feed.

Yes dry sow house, less chance of Medication in meal apparently. Any is better than nothing.

The man I did my placement with recently there put a lot of emphasis on feeding the lactating sow well alright. I suppose there'll be a lot of washing going on all over the piggery anyway.

Very little in dry sow house, it'd be more so in Farrowing.
Also some channel to 1 collection point, so you could be getting a good combination
