The CEO of the NTA was interviewed on local Dublin 15 station, Phoenix FM last Friday.

In it , she stated that the swords BRT line was axed due to the metro going ahead and the tallaght line to belmaine/Clare hall line was axed due to lack of space.

She did say that the Blanchardstown UCD line is still going ahead and planning submission will be later this year

I know there can be space constraints and bottle necks but we have a serious downer on brt - luas good brt bad ...
To cancel a needed transport link ( brt,) because we're maybe thinking of planning to maybe begin planning to think of building a rail link -budget and political cycles allowing of course....

Maybe there are some "cultural" underlying reasons for killing some of the BRT's, which are the "I'll only be a minute" parking morons, you know them well, they are sort of parked somewhere near the kerb with the hazard warnings on so that it's invisible, they don't do it on the Luas tracks, because they know the Luas can't go round them, but "shore, they can just move out round me, I won't be long" is a major issue on a route that's busy, and space limited.

If we had drivers that would respect things like double yellow lines, or clearways, and bus lanes in general, maybe BRT's might be a viable option, but with the lack of rigid zero strikes enforcement on high volume routes, the BRT's would fail before they even get started, and that's without the hassles of ticket issues, and not using all the doors that are still ongoing aggravations with the existing services.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Sure now GF / FF / SF / ETC can now re-announce it as part of the election manifesto

Will someone just say out straight what the policy is? We were told months ago that BRT would be put in as a temporary measure regardless of what happens to metro north?

It's a shame that the Malahide Road corridor won't get one, perfect opportunity for BRT. Although the BRT being proposed isn't really a BRT anyway, it's just the existing QBC+frills.

Don't think it was reported on much or at all but real story was that the NTA and Departmemt of Transport had different views on what was going ahead or not.

Are all bus & bike lane improvements on the route abandoned so?

Tolka Bridge is a dangerous pinch point for example.

In a Twitter reply yesterday Paschal Donohoe stated: 'Cap plans includes funding for Blanch-UCD+Clongriffin-Tallaght BRT routes. Swords/Airport-City in the NTA draft strategy

He was asked if the Swords and Tallgaht BRT lines were to be scrapped?

Update on cycling news site saying not been axed but Swords modified in light of metro (also appears to reference this thread!):

The NTA CEO interview was also mentioned to the minister on Twitter.

I heard the full interview last night . before that was told what was said and a few people who heard it said it.

I don't know where they got tallaght , tallaght wasn't mentioned at all. Weird that I was told by different people but I listened to it a number of times and there was no mention of tallaght.

What was said was in light of the proposed metro, the swords BRT may be pulled and that they may go ahead with the blanchardstown line first. I don't know where tallaght came from

Anyway told by the radio station they are waiting on the sound engineer to put up the podcast.
