Reference is deceased and company no longer trading in Ireland

I am applying for jobs and the reference for my most relevant experience is now deceased. Also, the company is no longer trading in Ireland. The company is still trading in the UK but I have never dealt directly with head office or their HR department, it was always on a local level with my now deceased manager. The company has been gone from Ireland for 5 years now. There isn't anybody else I worked with who would have been senior to me besides this manager. I am afraid to give the address of the HR department in the UK as although they would have a record of me working for the company (I hope), they would have no idea of what duties I performed etc. What can I do?

Also, I just looked up my manager from another job who I was going to put as a reference too and they no longer work for that company. Argh!

Does it necessarily need to be senior, have you a peer that can give you a reference?

Failing that it's the UK HR you'll need to give.

It may not make much difference that the UK HR people don't know you personally. Lots of companies these days will only give a reference that says something like "I confirm that X worked in <your role> between <start date> and <end date>".

Do you have current contact details for the former manager?

Sigh. I only pressed the button once

I meant the "manager from another job who I was going to put as a reference too and they no longer work for that company"

Phone HR in the UK company and explain the situation, they may not give you details over the phone but they could confirm the details they will be able to give out if they were approached for a reference for you.

I agree with maybe looking for a peer to do the reference for the job where you're former manager is deceased.

For the one where the manager is in a different company now - why should that matter? They can still give you a reference in relation to the role you performed for them in the other company. Neither of my references work where I worked with them but are happy to give a reference.
