36 Players on the night . Clashing with Omagh and Ballyshannon tournaments the first night of competition didn't fail to deliver on quality or drama.

Quarter finals saw Declan Cunningham beat Colin Maxwell. Nathan Rafferty beating Steven Ganley .Campbell Jackson beating Richard Reid and Sean McGowan beating holder Brendan Dolan. In the first Semi Nathan Rafferty beat Donegal man Cunningham 3/1 and Skipper McGowan beat Jackson 3/1.

In a brilliant final the game was locked at 2/2 with both players sitting on tops after 12 darts. It was the young Tyrone thrower who held his nerve checking out in 13 darts to claim the first final berth of 2016.

I expect Sean McGowan to go one better in the second week.

Tyrone thrower Colin Maxwell won the week 2 qualifier to claim a final place , the second thrower from that county to claim one in two weeks . A nice way to start the 2016 event for the man who was cruelly denied the highest checkout in the 2015 event with the last 3 darts of the event ! ( which he was chalking too !)

In a competition of 27 players Colin faced off against compatriot Campbell Jackson in the first semi with Stephen Ganley playing Joe Nevin in the other one.

Maxwell held on to defeat Jackson and Joe Nevin took out experienced operator Ganley in the second final .

The final turned into a real battle and it would be Colin Maxwell who reached his first final night for a few seasons with a 3/2 victory .

With other competing tournaments coming to a close I'm expecting a rise in numbers for next week.

Campbell Jackson is a regular qualifier for final nights and might just make it next week at the expense of David Concannon.

41 players took part in Week 3's qualifier. The semi finals saw a close call in both matches . Shane Doherty beat Sean McGowan and newcomer Damien Hennigan how plays his local darts on the Sligo circuit overcame Declan Cunningham from Donegal both games were 3/2 in legs.

In the final Hennigan made his trip a fruitful one with a 3/1 victory over the young Belcoo talent Doherty.

Interesting to note that both Brendan Dolan and Campbell Jackson have yet to clinch a final place. Could Darryl Gurney , fresh from his final defeat to Micheal Van Gerwen in yesterday's Dutch open appear and win? I fancy Sean McGowan however to win week 4 at the expense of Brendan Dolan.

firstly apologies for lack of recent updates , problems with login details.

47 players took part in week 4 . The numbers very good especially with county commitments and other competitions on. In the semi finals Michael Mansell beat Sean McGowan and Declan Quinn beat Martin Fivey .

In the final Michael came out the winner but only after all five legs had been played , the standard was worthy of any edition of this series . Also many 180s on the night . 4 down 4 to go .

44 entrants on the night and a lot of new and talented faces .

The semi finals saw Brendan Dolan beat Declan Cunningham 3/2 and Campbell Jackson beat last weeks finalist Declan Quinn by the same margin .

In the final Brendan showed the type of form that has saw him lift this title on multiple occasions as he defeated Jackson 3/0.

The highest check out prize of €100 has been kindly donated by local firm Mellor Kitchens . Currently Sean McGowan holds this accolade with a 146 checkout.
He may now also claim his customary final spot at the expense of Campbell Jackson later tonight.

Week six of the Eamon & Bernies memorial . Only 30 ( only 30 on a Monday night during lent!) players took part . The All Ireland darts in Ennis taking their toll on numbers set in previous weeks. And it was a McGovern from Irvinestown who reached the final night , but not Eamon , a regular final night participant but his brother Damien who took the spoils, but it could have been so different.

In a nail biting Quarter final against Micheal Healey of Sligo , Damien was 2/0 down with Michael on 132 where he proceeded to hit 25 , T19 and another 25 to narrowly miss a 3/0 win , before Damien managed a fine comeback to win 3/2.

In the other Quarter Finals , Joe Nevin beat Shane Doherty. Declan Quinn beat Thomas Nevin and Richard Reid beat Daniel Hands .

In The semi finals Joe Nevin got the better of Declan Quinn and Damien McGovern defeated Richard Reid to reach the final .

The Final saw Damien wrap up his final place with an Impressive 3/0 victory over Joe Nevin. His second leg checking out on 120 , to keep up the fine family tradition in this competition .

Sean McGowan will be hard to beat in week 7 , with the consistent Declan Quinn pushing him all the way .
