Was out for a cycle yesterday, even though it was very mild it was very windy and so I wore my Lusso full length thermal bibs. I got completely soaked so when I got home I took them off and was throwing them in the washing machine when I decided to check the wash instructions and was highly amused to see the very specific instructions! I duly handed them to my wife and asked her to comply with the instructions. Then the row started.

You are not suppose to wash cycling kit at 40 - too hot

    30c should be fine.

I'm surprised you weren't told to "handwash" it and yourself under the outside tap in the cold!
