VW Central Locking Problem

    Hey,

I have a 2006 Sharan and the central locking is acting up. The fobs no longer work and you have to open/lock it using the key in the drivers lock. The door behind the passenger wont open at all.

I was wondering if I was to disconnect the battery would it reset the central locking system?

I have tried a few of the various techniques online to re-sync the fobs but no joy.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Branners

I would think you may need a new fob , as for the rear door is the lock mech making any noises ? My golf rear door the lock mech seized up intermittently I got a new one in before it completely seized . I'm told there is a sequence you can do to open a door.

I presume you changed the batteries in the fobs and the are in the right way ?

What technique did you use to resync them ?

Both fobs stopped working at the same time and I changed the battery for one of them but no joy!

The back passenger door has since unlocked itself but can be hit and miss whether it locks when you lock all the doors with the key in the drivers lock.

As above I changed the battery in one of the fobs, it isnt so long since they were changed so didnt really think it was a battery issue. Maybe I will change the battery in the other fob too.

From a clip on youtube, you bring down the drivers window and put one of the keys in the ignition and turn it. Then the other key goes into the drivers door, you turn it 3 times and remove it from the door. Then you hold in one of the keys on the fob and press the other one 3 times, the fob then flashes 5 times and it is meant to be synced but it didnt work. It flashed 5 times but didnt do anything.

Above is a very rough description, is there any other method I should be aware of?

    Thanks for the replies.

The only thing i ever did after changing a battery in the fob was put the blade of that fob into the door turn it to lock it or open it and press either the lock or unlock button on the fob, this has always worked for me.

I'll give that a try, thanks!

If that fails and you are close to Kildare i'll be more than happy to scan it with VCDS and see if we can find anything.

Do 06 VW still have the same issue as earlier models. The locks are notorious for failing. Look at the amount of responses to a simple Google search

And FFS if it is a door lock module then stay away from the ebay locks as I had to go through the whole rigmarole of beating the door open a second time after the cheap one failed.
Sounds to me though that the comfort module is blown?

does sound like lock issue but if door is well used check wiring in loom from body of car to door.

@tossy Thanks for the offer but I wouldnt be near Kildare. Am based in north Dublin
    .
I changed the batteries in both fobs again and still no joy. I am more of a techy head, I can sort out Kodi for you but I dont know the first or last things about cars so I'll drop it in some where to get looked at.

Thanks for the replies lads and lasses!

A new comfort module is about 600 lids with fitting.
A secondhand one would be a fraction - just something to keep in mind, might not be that at all. Would need to be coded in AFAIK
