Has anyone a secur 100 solar fencer & if so what you think of them?
Have a small field ( 6 acres ) away from home Farm & one of these might do the job rather than charging batterys. Appreciate anyone's views or opinions.
    Thanks in advance

I dont know about that exact model but the father uses solar panels with the fencer which charges old car/tractor batterys used for the fence.
Good job. lasts months for him with a fairly good battery.
The solar panel alone connected to a fence will give a bit of a shock.
I believe one of the solar panels he bought was off spaldings. around 10 inches by 10, off hand dont know the price though

Have that exact model. Great job and it's doing about 30 acres. Might have to charge the battery once in the year but no problems outside of that.

€400-€500 is roughly the price without 12V battery

Maybe consider a small wind turbine rather than solar? (http://www.banggood.com/High-Efficiency-100W-DC12V24V-3-Blades-Wind-Turbine-Generator-p-956625.html for example)

I got a lacme 500 for around that money 450 and got a 30w solar panel locally for 50 euro had to charge it only once at the start of January running all year round.
As its a expensive piece of kit I hope to get a good few years from I put in a large container from dry cow tubes drilled holes on the side for wires to come out and put cover lid on the top.
I then put container with fencer inside into an old chest freezer brought wires out and shut door and locked it attaching solar panel to the outside with a few self tapping screws and cable ties facing south and earth wire attached to the ground
It keeps the main fencer safe from the elements until I get a shed sorted out.
I had left some cheaper battery fencers out before and the winter is not kind to them or any sort of electronics for that matter.
I must get a deep cycle battery at some stage when I'm changing old car battery as the deep cycle battery's used for leasure boats caravans etc. are better for a solar setup than a car battery and maybe cheaper i have seen them in halfords for around 80 euro.
I think wind would be more expensive setup for charging and might also draw unwanted attention from potential theft as it would stick out like a sore thumb.
