Hi, looking at buying a 06 Vw Transporter van. They only thing that's getting me down about it is the mileage.
There is 200,000 miles on the clock and I'm worried if I try to sell it again that I won't be able. Sales man tells me that's noting for one of these vans they would go to 500,000. What you's think?

The salesman will tell you what you want to hear.

i don't know a great deal about buying vans but how is it priced and what is the mileage like compared to other Transporters you looked at?

really also ask yourself, if you keep it for say 2-3 years, will a very high mileage vs. a reasonably high mileage make any difference to the resale value of a 15 year old Transporter? i'd say at that stage there won't be much of an drop off in premiums for a very high mileage example and condition and history will be the main selling points.

I suppose it all comes down to money and the condition of the van of it has a good service history and was well minded there will be still a lot of life left in it and the 1.9tdi is reliable. If the above applies and it's priced reasonably then why not and as said above if your going to keep it for a few years is it really going to be worth much regardless of mileage when you go to sell it, it's 10 years old as it is and 20k miles a year isn't high mileage on a van at all.

I've an 05 primastar 240k miles n not a bother on it. If the price is right why not. It will do the same again if u keep changing the oil.

    Your van must be unique.

Any ideas what it was delivering, could be heavy building supplies or some lighweight items, a heavy load would have the van fairly worn with those miles.
