Would you like to live in a world where you got along well with everyone you ever encountered? Where any combination of people with different personalities, beliefs and morals could be put into a room and co exist perfectly? A world with no confrontation, arguments, rivalries or violence. Nobody is rude, and everyone sees the good in each other.

As perfect as it sounds, I don't know if I could live in such a eutopia. Conflict can be difficult but a necessary part of life and is character building. You learn a bit more about yourself through your response to conflict with other people. I think we all need a good row now and again. Without conflict we wouldn't watch most tv shows like game of thrones, and read most books in which conflict plays a major part.

And, like the Morlocks, you only come out at night. :)

The very fact that people have different beliefs, morals etc means that some conflict is always going to be inevitable, whether that be on a personal level or the wider scale fights which we call war. Perhaps if there was an infinite supply of resources like food, fuel & water that might reduce the amout of conflict but it probably wouldn't eliminate it.

All this is pretty depressing for those on the receiving end of violence. On the bright side however, conflict & the threat of it have spurred mankind onto great advances in many different fields, from medicine to transportation - would Man have gone to the moon in the absence of the Cold War competition with the USSR? If you fall & get a bad fracture of a limb the medical staff treating you will be using knowledge & techniques which draw on the experience of battlefield doctors. There's probably lots more examples out there.

War is generally pretty awful for the individual suffering from it at the time, but very often Mankind will gain some benefit from the solutions arrived at to wartime problems.

None of us would be outraged about anything any more. That would be so boring I'd fall asleep.

I reckon we'd last three days, maybe four, before we all went postal.

If you want to stay somewhere where there is no conflict try this...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Family

I went to one of their camps.

I seriously got tired of people being nice to me all the time...

I had never heard of this crowd, interesting.
There have been incidents of theft, rape, stabbings and other violence. In an effort at self-policing and conflict resolution, Rainbow attendees have created a method they call "Shanti Sena," that involve peaceful noviolent community response to issues. It is used in emergencies or serious conflict, as a call for help, and responders with a variety of skills show up to help facilitate a solution to the problem. [11]

There were three non-fatal stabbings at a gathering in Colorado in 2014.[12][13] In early 2015 there was a fatal shooting at a gathering in Florida.[14]

I'm off to write a new legal drama for Netflix. Kiss my ass, Making a Murderer. :pac:

I think we can have a world with more tolerance, and that we will develop the skill sets to be able to find a middle ground that everyone can live with. I think we're getting better at it all the time. If you could go back 1000 years and tell the average European how well modern Europeans would get along they probably wouldn't believe it was possible.

It will mean leaving behind those religious hang ups. The west has become pretty good at being lapse Christians, most Europeans are Christian in name only, they don't actually follow most of the rules. Once the Muslims start doing the same thing life will get much better for all humans.
