    Hi all,

I have first refusal on a 2009 Mazda6 TS (2.2TD 163hp) with about 65k miles on the clock. Seems a lovely clean motor but I've heard some bad news about the 2.0l diesel Mazda6 DPF leaking diesel into the sump. Does the same issue apply to the 2.2? How prevalent is that issue? Anything else to be aware of with that model of the car?

I was looking in to that shape mazda 6 diesel myself. From fast Google it looked like a lot of people were pretty happy with them. A lot of people mentioning how reliability is a lot better then previous shape ones.

I would love to know more about these diesels too. Unfortunately not many 163hp versions out there.

No didn't go with it in the end because it didn't have a service history. Far too much risk with that considering the known DPF issues with this car which appear to be mitigated by using the exact oil specified by Mazda and having the oil changed every 10,000km. Without a service history there's not a hope of knowing how it was maintained.

The first and second generation diesel Mazda 6's are a bit of a minefield by all accounts. Seems to be quite a lot of unhappy owners online so I'm steering clear of them altogether.
