    Hi guys
I have a glowworm gas combi boiler in the bedroom of my apartment and at the moment it is turned on all the time. The heating has a separate control to dictate when it comes on and the hot water comes on automatically when you run the tap.

Every hour or so it makes a loud whirring noise for 15 seconds or so, and as it is located in the bedroom it wakes me up. Is it ok to turn it on and off at the boiler every night or is this a bad idea? Will it wear out the power switch or anything? For some reason, I feel I should leave it on all the time. Also, if it is ok to turn it off, I presume it is enough to turn the boiler off, and not the main electricity switch as well? Or will it still make noise unless it is off at the electricity mains too?

Sorry for the stupid questions :o

Any alternative solutions to the noise gratefully received :)

You may turn off the boiler from the boiler control knob without any fear of causing any harm.
