Just started growing out of nowhere in all the walls upstairs. My walls are wooden, so I tought maybe mould or mildew.
How does one get rid of it ?

What do u mean by wooden walls?
Its a damp/condensation/ poor ventilation/poor insulation problem so just cleaning it off will not address the problem

I live in a rented house, so is it feasable for a tenant to ask a landlord to fix this problem. Or does it come under the same category as ''I need a new carpet, because its dirty ''

Mold is a health issue, and up to the LL to rectify. Unfortunately, many tenants just block up vents to prevent draughts, leave blinds closed, never open windows and dry clothes on radiators. All of these actions typically increase the chances of mold forming.

Open up the air vents in the room and clean the mould of with a solution of bleach and water about 3:1 parts water to bleach and adhere to what Dodzy recommends.
